What to do if you fall for your best friend?

I've known her for about 7 years and we've been best friends for about 5 years. We tried going on dates during the first year we started hanging out, but obstacles got in the way of it going anywhere at that point. We've had a few pretty good fights where one of us stopped talking to the other for awhile, but we always find our way back into the others life. She loves my parents, and they think of her as a daughter. The latest fight we had was a few months after i told her how i really felt, she said she doesnt wanna ruin our friendship, and then she started dating someone else. I just couldnt handle it, so i told her i needed to stop talking to her and be away from her for awhile. I dated a couple people during this time, but i always was thinking about her. It probably didnt help that i was in Iraq during this time, and every day i couldnt talk to her, it felt like a piece of myself was torn away and missing. Ive never truly meant it when i told a girl i loved her, but with her, i can say it whole heartedly. I love her completely, heart mind and soul. She's always known it, just like everyone else. And i was so thankful when she took me back as her best friend without a second thought. She went through some rough times when we werent talking, and told my mom she felt so bad becuz she couldnt talk to me, cuz im the only person she can talk to about certain things. I know i should probably move on, but i cant, she's been the only constant in my life, i would do absolutely anything for her. She's the one person i truly love in this world, and i would spend a lifetime if it meant i could have just one day where she felt the sameWhat to do if you fall for your best friend?
These sorts of things never work out well. If she thinks of you as a friend but haven't successfully dated, then it probably isn't meant to be.
