Is it normal to want to hug your best friend whos a girl (im a guy) alot when they are with you?

My best friend is a girl.





I used to have feelings for her, i definetly know i don't have feelings for her anymore cos i never get jealous when shes kissing and cuddling other guys now, i just feel happy for her.





I love her to bits as a friend, loads and i always love to get a hug off her whenever i can. We never fall out and we've always stayed in a strong friendship.





Does anyone else like to hug their best friend whos the opposite sex alot? I know i mean this in a friendly way, i dont force hugs or anything like that, i just always seem to be up for hugs from her because it makes me feel close to her and how much of a great mate she is. I give her a kiss on the cheek when i say goodbye alot aswell, just so i feel close to her.





I just wanted to know if its just me or if everyone feels the same towards there best friend of the opposite sex.

yes of course! its completely normal. You are one of those few guys who has the ability to be really close friends with a girl without falling in love with her. Good job! And yes, i have a friend like that. Its nice to have a friend that can just be there for you, and is always up for hugs or whatever you need. Keep it up and take care.
Aww..you 2 seem so close. i think thats sweet.look at it this way,when 2 girls are best friends they hug all they time.so what is so different if your a guy and sge's a girl? your both still best friends.If you guys are that close then if she didn't enjoy being hugged by you then im sure she would say something to you.

It sounds to me that you are supressing your true feelings for her. I think deep down you wish there could be more of a relationship with her and your need to hug and kiss her to feel close is on the surface very charming and cute, however it settles your need for a few moments to know that she is still in your life and affirms that you are still her ';special friend';. I have many friends of the opposite sex and I would be lying to myself if I said I was not interested in any of them to pursue a future. Some are closer friends than others but naturally it is a inborn trait that a person wants to show affection to those that mean the most in their lives. I think you should re-examine your true feelings for her, ask yourself these questions and answer honestly and you will know your true feelings for her.





1. She is getting married to your best ';guy friend';....you know that you love her - you wish you were (A) the groom (B) the best man (C) no where near the day of the wedding.





2. She is dating a guy that doesn't treat her as well as you would. You know for a fact that he cheats on her and if she finds out she will be crushed. (A) you tell her (B) you beat the snot out of her boyfriend (C) you do nothing.





3. She finds herself falling in love with you and shares her feelings for you in a beautifully written letter (A) you call her on the phone (B) you run to her house to be with her (C) you text her.
